Whoever was running the official Twitter account for home appliance brand KitchenAid landed the company in a mess of hot water after sending an offensive tweet about President Obama's grandmother during the presidential debate Wednesday night.

The tweet has since been removed but continues to live in more than a dozen re-tweets. It read, "Obamas gma [grandmother] even knew it was going 2 b bad! She died 3 days b4 he became president."

The company later issued an apology from the same account, which read, "Deepest apologies for an irresponsible tweet that is in no way a representation of the brand's opinion."

Obama made reference to his grandmother during the debate when he was discussing the importance of Medicare and Social Security.
